Steven Mukwala reveals his biggest challenge at Kotoko

According to the striker he is unfamiliar with Ghanaian diets

Ugandan International Steven Mukwala, has bemoaned his struggles to adjust to Ghanaian foods amid his stay with Asante Kotoko in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi.

He observed that though he is off a good start to adaptation of the Ghanaian culture, his major challenge at Kotoko had been his unfamiliarity with the intake of dieting.

Mukwala has been in Ghana since 2022 following his union with the former Ghana Premier League champions and helped them to a top four spot in the just ended 2022/23 GPL campaign.

In what became his debut season in Ghana’s topflight football the attacker managed to score more than 10 goals for Kotoko.

The former Vipers SC goal monger sharing his experience of his stay in Ghana to Asante Kotoko TV, confessed that food and climate makes him find himself in a most awkward predicament.

“The only challenge I face in Ghana is basically from the food point – the ‘pepper’ because I don’t take pepper so that is really a challenge.

On climate, the sun is too scorchy in Ghana but this season, am ready for everything and ready for the challenge,” he said as quoted by

However, the 24-year-old player is optimist that with time he “will overcome” the situation.

Steven Mukwala stressed and added that whiles he looks forward to accustoming quickly he hope to improve on his performance in the 2023/24 new football season to enable the club to win the GPL title as targeted.

“I will do better than I did last season I improve on myself and everything so to ensure that this season becomes a better for and Kotoko,” he concluded.
