Asante Kotoko sack four players

Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko have announced the departure of four players on mutual consent.

The four players have had their contracts with Asante Kotoko terminated after being deemed surplus to requirements.

The players are Mohammed Alhassan, Charles Owusu, Samuel Boateng and Dickson Afoakwa.

A club’s statement reads, “The Club will like to confirm the departure of these gentlemen by mutual consent. We are grateful for their contributions during their time with us and wish them the very best for the future.”

The four players to leave Asante Kotoko in the ongoing transfer after Joseph Amoako who lasted two years at the club.

The former Helsingborg IF winger was suspended by Asante Kotoko indefinitely after an altercation with a club supporter on Facebook.

He joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year agreement from lower-tier team Young Red Bull FC prior to the commencement of the 2021/2022 season.

Amoako was touted to take Asante Kotoko by storm with his exceptional talent in the near future but his stay was hampered with injuries.

He started on a brighter note at Asante Kotoko, contributing four assists within the first five matches before injuries impeded his progress.

The young talent managed just two matches in the 2021/22 season for Asante Kotoko before leaving on loan to Swedish side Helsingborgs IF.

Joseph Amoako made a return to Ghana in March, 2023 after a challenging phase abroad where he was wrongfully convicted in Sweden for rape but got acquainted after long standing investigations.

Despite a tough spell in Sweden, Joseph Amoako managed only ten matches for Helsingborg IF across all competitions…
