I’ve given Asante Kotoko a huge fan base in Uganda – Steven Mukwala

Top striker of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Steven Mukwala has disclosed how impactful his addition to the club’s fraternity has had on its fanbase in Uganda.

The 24-year-old goal poacher who hails from Uganda will be enjoying his second season at the Ghanaian club after his first season in 2022/23.

Mukwala’s prolific goal scoring abilities saw him emerged as the club’s topscorer with 11 goals helping the side to a top four finished.

He has since established himself as one of Kotoko’s notable and key players currently representing the Kumasi-based club.

Speaking about his tie-up with Asante Kotoko, Mukwala observed that his first season exploits at the team has strengthen his countrymen’s strong affiliation with the one-time African club of the century.

He noted that ‘not only his exploits’ at the Ghanaian powerhouse made the indigenes of Uganda fall in love with the porcupine worriors but also due to his decision to play for the former African champions.

“Basically, since I joined Kotoko, I think in Uganda Kotoko has really gets a lot of fans since I joined them, and I believed there are more fans counting. I believe Kotoko has a big fanbase in Uganda,” Steven Mukwala told Kotoko TV as quoted by Getsportsgh.com.

According to the Ugandan Internation, helping Kumasi Asante Kotoko to annex the 2023/24 betPawa Ghana Premier League title is his main priority going into the season.

“That is my first priority this season, my main target is winning the league and still fight for the top scorer. With the character of the coach and love for the club this season we will go far. The season will be super amazing for all the porcupine fans and family.”

Steven Mukwala has recently played for Ivorian side Singo Football Club, and Vipers SC as well as Maroons FC all in Uganda.

Most recently, he becomes the second player to don the colours of the Asante Kotoko after 29-year-old defender Joseph Ochaya, who played for the reds between 20212 and 2014.
