The former Ghana Premier League champions are close to completing the Pobiman Complex which has player hostels and training facilities included.

The team is currently using aspects of the training facility as they prepare for the start of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

But Togbe Afede XIV reveals once the Pobiman project is completed, the club will turn its attention to building its own stadium.

“After the Pobiman is done, the only thing we don’t have is a big stadium,” he said.

“CAF requires a minimum 25,000 capacity stadium. After all this, that is what we want to do. I can assure you that the board, as visionary and future-oriented as it is, has already started looking for land for that stadium.

“We are ticking all the boxes but it is not easy.”

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have commenced pre-season training at Pobiman with the sole aim of competing for the league title after a shambolic campaign last season.

The technical director of the club, Rene Hiddink is leading the team for the pre-season as the club is yet to name a new head coach.

But reports in the local media suggest that Hearts of Oak have decided to appoint Dutch trainer Martin Koopman as the new substantive head coach with talks already at the very apex.

The former CAF Champions League winners will commence the 2023/24 season of the Ghana Premier League with a trip to Tamale to face Real Tamale United.
