‘My main priority is winning the league with Kotoko’ – Steven Mukwala

Mukwala was Asante Kotoko top scorer in 2022/23 season

Helping Kumasi Asante Kotoko annex the 2023/24 betPawa Ghana Premier League title is my foremost priority going into the season, forward Steven Mukwala has indicated.

According to the Ugandan International, he is poised to help the club win the domestic league title to better their performance in the previous season.

Kotoko finished as a fourth-place team in the just ended season where they bottled out the converted league title to eventual winners Medeama SC.

With coach Prosper Ogum Nartey in charge of the fabulous following his return, Mukwala is adamant the prowess of the gaffer will assist all and sundry particularly him to achieve his target in the coming season.

He also noted that he has targeted emerging as the topscorer of the Ghana Premier League competition.

“That is my first priority this season, my main target is winning the league and still fight for the top scorer. With the character of the coach and love for the club this season we will go far. The season will be super amazing for all the porcupine fans and family,” he told Asante Kotoko TV.

Asked whether he has targeted a certain number of goals, he said “no” but was quick to add that he will improve upon his exploits in the 2022/23 campaign where he scored 11 goals.

“Basically, I won’t point out any figure but what I believe I will do better than I did last season I improve on myself and everything so to ensure that this season becomes a better for and Kotoko,” Mukwala added.

The Ugandan forward scoring 11 goals for Kotoko the previous season was the club’s top scorer.

Asante Kotoko will begin their title challenge at the Baba Yara stadium with a game against Hearts of Lion in September.
