Amos Frimpong opens up on Asante Kotoko return

The 31-year-old says he is ready to serve Kotoko in any capacity

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko captain, Amos Frimpong has expressed readiness to return to the club and served them in any capacity when given the opportunity.

According to the player, his doors are always open for any role at the porcupine worriors if given any role by the life Patron of the team Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Frimpong made the statement whiles commenting on the club’s newly constituted Interim Management Committee (IMC) by the Otumfuo after the dissolution of the Nana Yaw Amponsah led management and Board following expiration of their mandate.

The four members are Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua who is the Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant.

Others members include former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum; the newly appointed Kotoko coach and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as the administrative manager.

The committee will be running the affairs of Asante Kotoko until the administration of the club is restructured.

Delving into the experience the IMC brings on board to help transform the club, the 31-year-old defender said everyone yearns to be part of the team success including himself.

The former BA Stars player who currently plays for Guinean side, Club Industriel de Kamsar, indicated that despite still active as a footballer he will not hesitate to rejoin the Kumasi-based side when offered any position beyond playing.

“At the moment I am still active, I haven’t given up on football. Any position I will be given, I will not hesitate to come and share my experience, if I am called upon to come and help the club,” he told Accra-based Citi FM and monitored by

Amos Frimpong who believes supporters play key role in team’s successes urged the fanbase to make it a habit and troop to the stadium and rally behind the team in the upcoming season.

At Kotoko, the former BA Stars talisman served as captain after the departure of Yaw Frimpong to TP Mazembe, went ahead to become an integral member of the team and won the hearts of the fans due to his specialization in converting penalties.
