Board member of Hearts of Oak, Alhaji Akanbi will be filing a nomination for the GFA Executive Council position, Getsportsgh.com can exclusively report.

The renowned football administrator will be contesting for a slot on the GFA Executive Council on the ticket of Hearts of Oak.

According to reliable information, Alhaji Akanbi was named to represent Hearts of Oak on the Executive Council at the club’s tecent stakeholders meeting in Accra.

The GFA has already announced that filing fee for the Executive Council position is Gh¢15,000 with over 42 individuals currently in contention for a slot on the Ghana football top body.

Only eleven football administrators will be elected onto the GFA Exco in the forthcoming elections.

The GFA Exco will comprise of five representatives from the Premier League, three from the Division One, two from the regional football associations and a representative from the Women’s League.

A slot will automatically be reserved for the Ghana Football Association President.

Alhaji Akanbi will join the likes of Edmund Ackah of FC Samartex fame, Lord Zico, Frederick Acheampong, Samuel Anim Addo, Oduro Sarfo, Alexander Ababio of Bofoakwa Tano FC, Randy Abbey, Dr Tony Augbyn, and Divine Kyei Boadu of Nations FC to contest for GFA Executive Council slots.

Per sources, Frederick Acheampong is seeking for re-election on the GFA Executive Council on the ticket of Dreams FC.

The astute football administrator cum broadcast journalist was voted onto the Executive Council in 2019 on the ticket of AshantiGold SC where he served as the CEO.

In the RFA race, Getsportsgh.com can confirm that celebrated Ghanaian football administrator and talent developer Abdul Hay Yartey has declared to contest for the Central Regional Football Association’s Chairmanship seat.

The CEO of Kasoa-based Division Two side Cheetah FC will challenge the incumbent Robert Otieku Duncan for the seat in the forthcoming elections.
