Kwesi Appiah, Dr. Prosper Nartey calls for patience

The former Black Stars coach has called for calmness for the return of Nartey Ogum

Member of the Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC), Kwesi Appiah, has suggested that supporters of the club exercise some restraint for coach Prosper Nartey Ogum following his reunion.

He believes giving the gaffer some ample time to build a formidable team for success would be necessary than piling pressure on him.

Kwesi Appiah‘s plea is in line with the official unveiling of coach Prosper Nartey Ogum on Monday, August 7, 2023, after his return to the club.

Speaking at the unveiling, the former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah, said with the mandate of the IMC, they are well focused on building a formidable squad for the team to enable them to compete for trophies.

This, he asked the team fanbase against pressuring the coach into immediate success, since it will take time to excel.

“The intention is for the IMC to build a formidable team. We should not put pressure on the coach to win trophies. Looking at those going and coming, it will take time to get the best out of the team,” Kwesi Appiah stated.

He added, “The intention is for the team to be very competitive in the second year.”

On his part, the newly unveiled coach Dr. Prosper Ogum emphasisied on the need for supporters to lower their expectations though he is poised at bringing success to the club.

“My first year is to put together a very formidable team that can compete both domestically and internationally. However, you can’t be at Kotoko and not think of bringing success.”

The former WAFA manager return to Asante Kotoko a year after he left the club after winning the Ghana Premier League.

His first official assignment with the club begins in September, when his side kick off their league campaign at home against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
