Michael Ampadu is close to joining Hearts of Oak

Highly-intelligent defender, Michael Ampadu has completed Hearts of Oak medical ahead of a move to the club, Getsportsgh.com has learnt.

The 26-year old right-back completed Hearts of Oak medical on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 according to local football transfer expert Mohammed Shaban.

Ampadu is joining Hearts of Oak on a free transfer following his departure from Legon Cities FC after the just-ended season of the Ghana Premier League.

He courted interest from several clubs including Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Goldstars but the Ghana U-23 defender is an inch closer to joining Hearts of Oak.

His addition to Hearts of Oak will be a huge boost to the club’s defense after the departure of Robert Addo Sowah and Konadu Yiadom in the ongoing transfer window.

Ampadu played for Liberty Professionals for four seasons from 2016 to 2020 before joining Legon Cities in 2020 in the club’s bid to bolster their squad ahead of the 2020–21 Ghana Premier League season.

Following his exploits in the Ghana Premier league, Michael Ampadu became one of the best right-backs in the domestic league which earned him a call-up to the Ghana U23 national team in 2019.

Should Michael Ampadu signed for Hearts of Oak, he will become the latest addition to the club’s squad after Asekem FC trio of Raphael Amponsah, Evans Adomako and Martin Karikari alongside Leventus Arthur and Kelvin Osei Asibey formerly of Techiman Eleven Wonders.

Ampadu was invited to the Ghana U-23 team by coach Ibrahim Tanko and played for Ghana during the 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have commenced pre-season training at Pobiman with striker Issah Kuka recalled from loan spell at Real Tamale United.
