Yahaya Dawuni expressed excitement after joining Asante Kotoko

Asante Kotoko newly-signed defender, Yahaya Dawuni has expressed his excitement after joining the club.

The 19-year old centre-back has joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year deal after passing a mandatory medical.

Speaking after his signing, Yahaya Dawuni revealed that Asante Kotoko has always been his favorite club hence the reason why he has signed for the team.

“I feel so happy to be here. Kotoko is my dream club and I am honoured to be part of this great family, to be able to dorn the iconic red jersey and also play in front of the loyal supporters at the Baba Yara Stadium”, Dawuni told Asante Kotoko Communication Directorate.

Dawuni has joined the former Ghana Premier League champions from lower-tier side Susubiribi Sporting Club following his incredible form for the club.

The bulky defender has officially become Asante Kotoko first signing under coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum.

Yahaya Dawuni will join the Asante Kotoko teammates for preseason training at Beposo Park in the Ashanti Region.

There are also reports that Asante Kotoko have also completed the acquisition of Michael Dwamena formerly of WAFA SC and Berekum Chelsea duo of Henry Ansu and Kalo Quattara pending official announcement.

Asante Kotoko have also informed eleven players to leave the club over uninspiring performances.

The eleven players include; Adul Rafiu Yakubu, Maxwell Agyemang, Andrews Appau, Mohammed Alhassan, Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Samuel Boateng.

Others are Ernest Osei Opoku, Evans Adomako, Clinton Opoku, Charles Owusu and Dickson Afoakwa.

This forms part of Asante Kotoko squad planning for the 2023/24 league season.

Asante Kotoko have commenced pre-season training for the 2023/24 league season at Beposo Park in the Ashanti Region on August 8, 2023.
