RFA Chairmen pick nomination forms for Kurt Okraku

President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku has taken a significant step in his pursuit to lead Ghana football for the second term by picking up nomination forms.

Kurt Okraku is seeking for re-election as GFA President, becoming the first candidate to pick his forms since nomination was opened on Monday.

Six Regional Football Association heads picked the forms on behalf of Kurt Okraku at the GFA head office in Accra on Monday, August 7, 2023.

As earlier broke the news, the six personalities include the Central Region FA Chairman , Robert Otieku Duncan, the Greater Accra Regional FA Chairman, Samuel Aboabire, Western Regional FA Chairman, Simon Ehomah and Eastern Regional FA Chairman, Linford Asamoah.

Others are; Northern Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo and Upper East Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida.

Speaking to the press after picking the nomination forms, the Upper West regional football association chairman, Alhaji S.D. Yahaya Biyad stated emphatically that Kurt Okraku has done an incredible job when it comes to juvenile football hence the decision of the various RFA heads to throw their weight behind the former University of Liverpool alumni for a second term as GFA President.

He believes Ghana football will regain its glorious days with Kurt Okraku as GFA President for the next four years.

“We as RFA Chairmen have picked the forms to endorse Kurt Okraku. He has done massively well for Ghana football especially at the grassroots level, and this is a sign of our support to him”, Yahaya Biyad.

With the backing of the regional football association chairmen, Okraku’s aspirations to retain the GFA presidency have gained a significant boost. The October elections hold the potential to signal to the world that Ghanaian football is on the rise, bolstered by strong and consistent leadership.

But he will face stiffer competition from George Afriyie – a former GFA Vice President, and the former Western Regional FA boss Kojo Yankah who have all reaffirmed their intentions to contest for the GFA Presidential seat.
