GFA Elections: Nomination forms open today

The elections for the GFA is slated for September 27, 2023

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has today opened nominations for aspirants interested to contest for the GFA Presidential seat, GFA Executive Council and regional football associations chairmanship position. 

The exercise which forms part of the roadmap for the final process of the FA’s elections to elect persons for the various positions opened today, Monday, August 7, 2023, and ends on Friday, August 11, 2023.

This comes, after the Ghana FA had announced the guidelines and roadmap for the upcoming GFA elections slated for September 27.

Consequently, an aspiring presidential candidate shall obtain the nomination forms after payment of a non-refundable nomination fee of GH¢50, 000.00 through a bank account of the Ghana Football Association.

Meanwhile, interested candidates for the Executive Council (EXCO) slot will pay GH¢15, 000.00, whiles Chairperson of the Regional Football Association (RFA) will also pay GH¢10, 000.00 for the forms.

Also, individuals seeking for the RFA slots at the EXCO, RFA Executive Council, District Football Association (DFA) chairperson, and District Football Association (DFA) EXCO will have to pay GH¢5, 000.00, GH¢2, 000.00, GH¢1, 000.00 and GH¢500.00 in that order.

So far incumbent GFA President Kurt Okraku, former Vice President of the FA under Kwesi Nyantakyi erstwhile administration, George Afriyie and Kojo Yankah have all made known their intention to contest the presidential seat. understands, six regional football association chairmen will today converge at the headquarters of the Ghana Football Association to pick nomination forms on behalf Kurt Okraku.

The six personalities include the Central Region FA Chairman, Robert Otieku Duncan, the Greater Accra Regional FA Chairman, Samuel Aboabire, Western Regional FA Chairman, Simon Ehomah and Eastern Regional FA Chairman, Linford Asamoah.

The rest are; Northern Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo and Upper East Regional FA Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida.

That notwithstanding, football administrator, Frederick Acheampong will also seek reelection for his seat at the Ghana Football Association executive council after he declared his intention to contest.

According to the GFA in statement, the 2023 GFA Elections shall be conducted in full compliance with the provisions of the GFA Statutes 2019 and the GFA Regulations on Elections 2019.
