Exclusive: Medeama signs 29-year-old midfielder from Zimbabwe

The attacking midfielder has previously played for SuperSports United, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates

Ghanaian Champions, Medeama Sporting Club has added to the ‘Yellow and Mauve’ family a 29-year-old Zimbabwean International to strengthen their squad.

Getsportsgh.com can exclusively report that the Ghana premier League side secured the signature of Kudakwashe Mahachi who plays as an attacking midfielder.

The player we understand completed the deal Monday, August 11, 2023, after successful negotiations between both parties.

His addition becomes a boost for the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League winners ahead of their preparation for the 2023/24 CAF Champions campaign and the new football season at large.

The attacking midfielder is expected to join the Western Region-based premier League side currently camping in Cape Coast for their preseason.

Kudakwashe Mahachi becomes the latest addition to Medeama SC after the capturing of Kamaradin Mamudu, Benjamin Bature, Ibrahim Larbi and Richard Akrofi and a host of others.

He previously played for SuperSports United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, Golden Arrows, Highlanders and Chicken Inn FC.

The 29-year-old having played for the Zimbabwean National team since 2014, has made 44 appearances scoring 5 goals.

In January 2014, coach Ian Gorowa, invited him Mahachi to be a part of the Zimbabwe squad for the 2014 African Nations Championship. He helped the team to a fourth-place finish after being defeated by Nigeria by a goal to nil.

Mahachi scored his first goal for his nation in the aforementioned 2014 African Nations Championship and his second in a friendly against Malawi.

Medeama who represents Ghana in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League will face Remo Stars of Nigeria in the preliminarily round of the competition. They will host the first leg in Cape Coast in Ghana before travelling to Nigeria for the second leg.

As part of Medeama’s preparations, they have lost to ASKO de Kara from Togo by 1-0 at the iconic Glow Lamp Soccer Academy Park in Abreshia on Friday, August 4, 2023.

It becomes the team’s second defeat in its ongoing preseason friendly having lost 3:2 to newly promoted Ghana Premier league outfit Nations FC.

Medeama will however face ASKO de Kara in a reverse fixture of the friendly before they play Remo Stars in the CAF Champions League.
