Thomas Partey played huge role in Arsenal's Community Shield trophy win

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has lifted the 2023 English FA Community Shield trophy for Arsenal after beating Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday, August 6, 2023.

Partey lasted the entire duration with an amazing showdown for Arsenal to win his first ever silverware for the Gunners.

It was a game both sides showed enough class and quality on the field of play

Partey as expected was paired with newly-signed Declan Rice in the midfield and the Ghana deputy skipper was extraordinary.

Cole Palmer opened the score for Manchester City in the 77th minute before a deflected effort from Leandro Trossard in added time ended up in the City net to restore parity for Arsenal.

Arsenal ended up winning 4:1 on penalty shootouts to give Arsenal the community shield trophy at the Wembley Stadium.

Partey’s exception performance has left many wondering as to why Arsenal were bent of offloading the midfielder in the summer transfer window.

The former Atletico Madrid midfielder was heavily linked to a big-money move to Saudi Arabia with Juventus and AC Milan also wanting his signature.

Thomas Partey was exceptional for Arsenal before the latter part of last season where his position was taken by Jorginho.
