Afriyie Barnieh scored twice for FC Zurich in cagey game on Saturday

Ghana attacker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was in superb form on Saturday evening as his brace secured FC Zurich a victory over formidable opponent, Lugano.

Barnieh who lasted 85 minutes was the hero of the game as his two goals gave FC Zurich 3:0 win at home.

Lugano gave FC Zurich a tougher game but Barnieh ensured his side emerge victorious with a mind-blowing performance.

The former Hearts of Oak attacker broke the deadlock for FC Zurich with a right footed shot from the centre of the box to the bottom left corner in the 68th minute.

Daniel Afriyie again in the 76th minute doubled the score for his team with a left footed shot from the right side of the box to the bottom right corner.

Jonathan Okita in the 80th minute scored to make it 3-0. Okita’s goal was assisted by Antonio Marchesano with a through ball.

The victory has cushioned FC Zurich to go top of the league and will face FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy in their next league game.

This was Afriyie Barnieh’s third outing for FC Zurich with the goals to his credit after joining the club in January, 2023 from Ghanaian football powerhouse, Hearts of Oak.
