Medeama to visit Akufo-Addo today

GPL champions will visit President Akufo-Addo in Accra today

Ghanaian champions, Medeama SC will today Wednesday, August 2, 2023, pay a courtesy call on President Nana Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House.

The contingent which would consist of the entire playing body will be led by the Director of Communication of the club, Patrick Akoto, and other communication team members.

The ‘Yellow and Mauve’ will cease the occasion to present their Premier League title they won in 2022/23 football season to the president.

Medeama’s crowning moment became the first-ever topflight league title in the club’s history.

On that score, they will be representing Ghana in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League having being paired against Remo Star of Nigeria in the preliminary round.

They have since open camping in Cape Coast in the central region ahead of the debut campaign in the CAF champions league. sources can confirm that the meeting with his Excellency will come on 4:00 PM at the Jubilee House.

The visit, we understands apart from the trophy presentation is to officially informed the president of their participation in the CAF Champions League amid seeking for his motivation and blessings.

Medeama, currently camping in Cape Coast for their preseason will depart the central region to Accra after morning training session.

As part of the team’s trophy tour, they also called on the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko in Takoradi and bestowed the GPL trophy on him in a momentous presentation ceremony.

In a similar move, Medeama officials on Friday, July 28, embarked on a courtesy call to the paramount chief of the Ogua Traditional Council in Cape Coast to solicit his support and advice ahead of their Africa campaign.

They extended it to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, and Nana Amo Tobin (Tobinco) who doubles as the Chairman of Tobinco Group, and Dwantoahene of Apinto Divisional Council (Tarkwa).

The team received GH¢47,000 from the Western Regional Minister, GH¢100,000 from Nana Amo Tobin as well as GH¢100,000 from the Speaker of Parliament for winning the season’s topflight league.

Municipal Chief Executive for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Benjamin Kesse also gave them a cash worth GH¢10,000 after visiting his office.

Medeama will begin their continental campaign between 18 to 20 August and 25 to 27 August for the two legged affairs.
