Hearts of Oak lack players with humility – Nyaho-Tamakloe

Nyaho-Tamakloe believes current Hearts of Oak players lack humility despite their poor performance

Senior board member of Hearts of Oak, Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has lashed out on the current players of the club.

According to the former Ghana FA Boss, the current players of Hearts of Oak lack humility unlike his time as Chairmam of the club where players were humble and played with great effort, energy and enthusiasm despite earning peanut at the club.

“Hearts of Oak was given peanuts to players then but those players were humble and played their heart out and that’s what we lack now. Those days the players were having exceptional skills and they were eager to learn as well despite the peanuts we were given to them”, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe said in a video posted on the club’s YouTube page.

He went ahead to advise current crop of players to desist from being arrogant whenever they get the opportunity to play for Hearts of Oak.

Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, who is a highly-respected statesman, warned players to stay away from any form of waywardness at Hearts of Oak since such players will be expunged from the club without any hesitation.

“And never think you’re bigger than Hearts of Oak when you get the chance to play for us because we have seen great players before, especially when I was the Chairman. If you’re not sincere to the club, you shall be taken off. It is in their interest that’s why some of us are still with the team , we don’t get anything from the club and the board chairman is also pumping a lot money without any returns”, he added.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak have commenced their pre-season at Pobiman ahead of the 2023/24 league season with technical director Rene Hiddink leading the team through training.

The former Ghana Premier League champions are currently without a head coach after the sacking of Serbian trainer Slavko Matic whose contract was terminated in midway of last season.

Matic’s assistant coach, David Ocloo took over the club for the rest of last season on the interim but has also been sacked after the just-ended season of the Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians are expected to announce a new substantive head coach before the 2023/24 league season commence in September.

Hearts of Oak will begin the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign with a trip to Tamale to face Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
