Bibiani Goldstars midfielder Owusu Banahene confirms talks with Hearts of Oak

Bibiani Goldstars midfielder Stephen Owusu Banahene has confirmed crunch talks with Hearts of Oak for a possible move.

Hearts of Oak are in the transfer market to strengthen their squad for the 2023/24 league season after a shambolic campaign in the just-ended Ghana Premier league season.

Owusu Banahene has been stipulated as a perfect player to bolster the Hearts of Oak midfield that boast of Gladson Awako, Salifu Ibrahim and host of other talented midfielders.

Speaking in an interview on Kumasi-based Kessben FM, Stephen Owusu Banahene revealed that Hearts of Oak are in crunch talks with Bibiani Goldstars for his signature.

“Hearts of Oak have expressed interest in me, and we are in talks, but we are yet to agree on a fee. Both parties are yet to reach an agreement, but we are still in talks,” Banahene revealed during an interview with Kessben FM.

Owusu Banahene joined Bibiani Goldstars in February 2023 and played a key role in helping the club secure a commendable 5th position on the Ghana Premier League table last season.

Should negotiations end in success, Stephen Owusu Banahene will become the latest addition to the Hearts of Oak set-up after Bofoakwa Tano FC defender Kelvin Osei Asibey.

Meanwhile, understands Hearts of Oak have contacted King Faisal for defender David Oppong Afrane as replacement for Konadu Yiadom who left the club for Ukraine.

Hearts of Oak will face keen competition from newly-promoted Ghana Premier league outfit Nations FC who have also showed interest in the talented defender.

Oppong Afrane was part of the King Faisal side, who failed to retain their Ghana Premier League status last season after losing to Great Olympics on the final day.

Even though King Faisal were relegated to the division one league last season, Oppong Afrane had a great season with his performances earning him call-ups in the Black Meteors.
