Chris Hughton ready to invite Partey for Black Stars duties if he moves to Saudi Arabia

Chris Hughton will still invite Partey of he moves to Saudi

Ghana coach, Chris Hughton says he will still invite Thomas Partey for Black Stars duties should the midfielder leave Arsenal for Saudi Arabia.

The 30-year old was having an impressive campaign for Arsenal until the later part of last season where Jorginho overtook his position in the team.

And following his dip in form, the Black Stars deputy skipper has been heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League.

The reports has encountered several debates in the local media with some section of Ghanaians arguing that Thomas Partey will lose his position in the Black Stars should he move to the Saudi Arabia Pro League and vice versa.

However, Chris Hughton believes the former Atletico Madrid talisman will still maintain his position in the Black Stars if he get enough playing time in the Saudi Pro League.

“No [it won’t influence me]. Thomas is an experienced player [and he] had a wonderful season at Arsenal last season. Firstly it’s about playing; players that are going to be playing regularly so they keep their fitness, and of course it’s about the league that they are playing in…but it’s about playing and playing regularly,” Hughton told talkSPORT.

Thomas Partey has also attracted huge interest from Italian clubs like AC Milan and Juventus but it seems the midfielder could stay at Arsenal for the upcoming league season.

He is currently with the Arsenal squad for their pre-season tour in America and has even featured in some matches.

Thomas Partey joined Arsenal in October, 2020 on a long-term contract, after activating his £45 million (€50 million) release clause with Atlético Madrid.
