Malik Jabir elated with Ogum’s return to Kotoko

According to Jabir, the leadership of Asante Kotoko took the right decision

Asante Kotoko legend, Malik Jabir has expressed his excitement about the re-appointment of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum as head coach of the club.

According to Jabir, the leadership of Asante Kotoko took the right decision by re-appointing Ogum as the substantive head coach for the 2023/24 league season.

Expressing his excitement, Malik Jabir who played for Ghana at the 1968 and 1972 Summer Olympics said: “I am happy the guy is back. He won the trophy for us last two years. Can you reject a winner? He has been reappointed and we are all happy. We will help and do anything he wants to help win again to prepare the team for Africa.”

Narteh Ogum has re-joined Asante Kotoko after barely eleven months of leaving the club due to internal issues with the immediate-past management of the club led by Nana Yaw Amponsah.

He was named among a four-man interim management committee by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to steer the affairs of the club until the administration of the club is restructured.

The four-member Committee include Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua; Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant, James Kwesi Appiah; former Black Stars gaffer, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum as the club’s head coach and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi as the administrative manager.

Narteh Ogum first joined Asante Kotoko before the start of the 2021/22 league season from West African Football Academy (WAFA).

He guided Asante Kotoko to the league trophy that season before leaving the club for national team duties.
