The 28-year old has begun training with his new teammates

Ghana defender Daniel Amartey has officially commenced training with new club Besiktas.

The 28-year old has begun training with his new teammates at Besiktas after completing a three-and-half year deal after passing a mandatory medical few days ago.

Amartey has been named in Besiktas squad for UEFA Conference League playoff against KF Tirana.

He joined Besiktas on free transfer after leaving relegated Premier league side Leicester City.

Daniel Amartey signed for Leicester City in 2016 from Danish top-flight side FC Copenhagen on a reported fee of up to £6million where he made an instant impact.

He played over hundred matches for Leicester City, scoring only two goals as a defender.

The Ghana defender was heavily linked to AC Milan and Inter Milan after his stay with Leicester City but decided to sign for Besiktas in the Turkish top-flight league.

Amartey has been an important member of the Ghana senior male national team, Black Stars since his debut in 2015.

Before his promotion to the Black Stars, Daniel Amartey played for the Ghana U-20 team.

He was part of Ghana squad at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Black Stars finished as runners-up. He also played six times at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, lasting 90 minutes in every match to help Ghana finish fourth in the tournament.
