Hearts’ target is to win the league next season – Nurudeen

Hearts of Oak will emerge league champions next season.

Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Aziz Nurudeen has said the club’s ambition for next season is to win the Ghana Premier league title.

The Phobians had a shambolic campaign last season by finishing 12th on the league log. This led to the sacking of head coach Slavko Matic and interim gaffer David Ocloo.

But despite the awful campaign last season, Abdul Aziz Nurudeen who was sidelined throughout the 2022/23 season due to knee injury believes the Hearts of Oak will emerge league champions next season.

“What has happened is already behind us because there is nothing we can do about it. Our focus is on this season, not last season. This season, we will try to improve ourselves. Our goal is to win the league because we deserve to return to Africa another time”, he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM in an interview.

“Hearts of Oak supporters should put the past behind them. This season, we will give them something bigger and better”, the 24-year old combative midfielder added.

As part of their preparations for the 2023/24 league season, Hearts of Oak have appointed Dutch trainer Rene Hiddink as the club’s new technical director.

Getsportsgh.com can exclusively reveal that Hiddink has reached a deal with the Ghana Premier league powerhouse ahead of the 2023/24 league season.

Rene Hiddink is a renowned trainer and the brother of former Chelsea and Netherlands manager Guus Hiddink.

He is expected to land in Ghana in the next coming days for his official unveiling as the head of the technical department of the club.

Rene Hiddink is also a retired footballer who worked as the assistant coach of the Maldives national football team.

The Dutch manager has also managed clubs in Rwanda, Madagascar, and the Maldives.

With the acquisition of Rene Hiddink completed, Hearts of Oak are also expected to announce a new substantive head coach for the upcoming league season.
