Hearts of Oak to announce Dutch coach Rene Hiddink as new Technical Director

The Dutch manager has also managed clubs in Rwanda, Madagascar, and the Maldives.

Ghanaian giants, Hearts of Oak have appointed Dutch trainer Rene Hiddink as the club’s new technical director. can exclusively reveal that Hiddink has reached a deal with the Ghana Premier league powerhouse ahead of the 2023/24 league season.

Rene Hiddink is a renowned trainer and the brother of former Chelsea and Netherlands manager Guus Hiddink.

He is expected to land in Ghana in the next coming days for his official unveiling as the head of the technical department of the club.

Rene Hiddink is also a retired footballer who worked as the assistant coach of the Maldives national football team.

The Dutch manager has also managed clubs in Rwanda, Madagascar, and the Maldives.

With the acquisition of Rene Hiddink completed, Hearts of Oak are also expected to announce a new substantive head coach for the upcoming league season.

The Phobians have already parted ways with interim coach David Ocloo.

Ocloo has mutually parted ways with the former Ghana Premier league champions after just eight months at the club.

A club’s statement reads, “Hearts of Oak and Coach David Ocloo have mutually parted ways. We wish him the best in his next endeavour.”

David Ocloo joined Hearts of Oak prior to the commencement of the 2022/23 league season.

It is believed that before the announcement, David Ocloo had tendered in his resignation letter to the management of the club after the league season came to an end.

He first deputized Serbian trainer Slavko Matic who was appointed the head coach of the club after the departure of Samuel Boadu.

Ocloo was however given the job on interim basis after Hearts of Oak decided to terminate the contract of Matic over uninspiring performance.

He guided Hearts of Oak to 10th position last season, escaping relegation on the final day of the league season.

Before joining Hearts of Oak, David Ocloo was the assistant coach at Asante Kotoko during the tenure of head coach Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum.
